Sofie Norling is a Swedish Jazz singer, lyricist and composer performing with Soloprojekt ”Sofie Norling” and bands as ”Nuaia”, ”David’s Angels” and “Quiet Nights Orchestra”, which all together has produced 11 albums including her original music. Sofie Norling is appreciated for her strong live presence, heart-felted voice and poetic lyric improvisations. She is told to be a compositional tidal wave with inspiration and outlet in everything from jazz, trip-hop and semi-acoustic ambient to synth rock, soul and Swedish folk hymns and to be one of the most chameleon-like voice artists who have walked these fields. Highly acclaimed since start Sofie Norling has been giving several concerts on venues such as Vancouver Int. Jazz Fest. (CAD), Rochester Int. Jazz Fest. (U.S),Tampere Jazz Happening (FI), Copenhagen Jazz Fest. (DK), Birdland, Hamburg (DE), Sakaiki Modalbeats, Tokyo (JPN) Fasching Jazz Club (SE) and solo concerts in Japan. She’s received several Scholarships from The Swedish Arts Council, ”Stim” and worked with artist like Juno award winning Christine Jensen, Ingrid Jensen, Funky Loffe, Sture Allén den Yngre, Moist and Jonas Kullhammar. She’s been referred to artist like Björk, Joni Mitchel, Monika Zetterlund and Patti Smith. Her album “Traces” / David’s Angels was named one of the best records of the year by Magnus Eriksson and received recommendations from Dave Douglas at Greenleaf Music. Swedish Radio P2 Folkmusiken chose “Psalm 203” to one of the most memorable songs of the year and Sofies release “Ching Ching Hej Hej” with Funky Loffe, has received frequent airplay on Swedish Radio P3 and was performed live on “TV4 Nyhetsmorgon”.
